03-18-2024I failed to keep track of time loading up my storage unit, and was locked out of the building with my unit still open overnight. I called the manager's line using the automated system and was able to leave a message. When I finally received a return call, Ria, the office manager for this location, assured me that my message was received early morning. She made sure my unit got closed up, and was able to verify whether or not anyone had even accessed the floor it's on. I'm very grateful she was there and was so helpful!

02-01-2024I wouldnt recommend this facility to anyone. Throughout the year and a half I stored my belongings here, I encountered numerous problems. The closest door to my unit was consistently out of order, and the staff couldnt provide any explanations or timelines for repairs. My unit was also broken into, causing damage to the door. Despite assurances of a new door, it was never ordered for over a year. Additionally, my rent was raised every six months. Overall, this place and its staff have been a disappointment.

12-13-2023If I could give no stars I would . The bathrooms Are only Accessible during office hours or unless you have access to the first floor. I don't know why they have so many good reviews probably because the staff guilt trip you into writing a good review. They are so quick to auction off your items. I missed a payment in October and in November my unit was auctioned off and I have been a customer since life storage was there. They go through constant staff changes so nothing is ever consistent. They raise rent frequently and it's not even climate controlled if they have it set to 83 all the time . Do not rent from here ! Trust me you can find a lot better !

11-06-2023I've used several CubeSmart locations in the past, but I definitely prefer Life Storage (Edit: Since writing this review, this location has been acquired by Public Storage). The place is always clean and well-lit. They don't play Guantanamo torture music throughout the building. The manager, though clearly overworked, always manages a smile and is helpful and friendly without any trace of a debilitating mental illness like a certain someone at a certain nearby storage place. Speaking of Cube Smart, the prices here are just a smidge higher, but _very_ worth it. Of course, always rent on the website to get the best deals. The security is good, though much of it could be considered "security theater". But for the sake of keeping up appearances, I won't detail the rather glaring flaws in their security here. An individual passcode is required to enter the building and to access the elevator. Your passcode will only take you to your floor. There are cameras aimed down every single hallway to keep an eye on what's going on at all times. Some things that could be improved: [Edit: None of these apply to Public Storage. But I figure I'll leave them for the sake of posterity.] 1. There is no complementary van to use to move your stuff in. It turns out that there are only 2 vans to service all 7+ LS locations in Austin! Obviously more vans are needed. 2. The office is only open half days because of significant short-staffing. Obviously, someone needs to be willing to be a storage unit manager for $15/hour. Could that someone be you? Oh, come on, it's a super cush gig! If you've got what it takes to babysit a bunch of stuff that seldom moves, apply on the main website. 3. There's no app for managing your account. This seems like a major miss for a company as large as LS. You can manage your account from the website, but that comes with all of the standard hassles that come with navigating sites on a phone. They also don't support Single Sign On, so it's just one more username/password to add to you toilet paper roll length crib notes of logins. 4. The online reservation process is not complete end-to-end like it is at CS. That means that the process doesn't end with you getting your gate code, unit number, and the code to a combination lock on your unit which you can then access at any time during access hours. Instead, you get a unit number. But you must actually pay for the unit at the office and the manager has to remove their lock from the unit. Again, it's very perplexing why a business as large as LS wouldn't have this much more streamlined by now. Maybe they're hiring web developers too! By all appearances, they should be.
