Jackson at this location is professional, friendly and very helpful. I love renting at the Stone Way P.S. location - it's clean and easy to access. (Warning though - the things other folks have posted about increased hikes are true. For some reason corporate P.S. only wants short term renters. So, it's a good deal if you're only renting for 3 months. Gets very pricey quickly if you need a rental longer term. Make sure to book online, web rates are better than what the office can sign you up for.)
My car was broken into at the intersection of N 36th St and Stone Way N, diagonal from Public Storage. Someone was actively surveying the area and saw me put my backpack in my trunk because of how quickly my car was targeted. My driver window was completely smashed and my trunk was broken into with the backpack and other items stolen. Im writing this review about Public Storage to warn others about the safety of this location and because of the interaction I had with Public Storage in trying to get more information about the break-in to provide to law enforcement. I reached out to this location specifically to ask if they have cameras on the exterior of their building with a view of where my car was parked, and if its possible to get camera footage of the event. The reason this is important to me is because I dont want other peoples cars to be broken into and the information about who broke into my car can help catch those responsible. I was told that Public Storage only cares if law enforcement reaches out to them and in that case the district manager of Public Storage for this location needs to get involved. I was also told that it was inappropriate for me to call to ask about cameras and footage, that I was in the wrong for wanting help. The police do not care to look into this further either, which means nobody involved except for me cares about my stolen items and improving safety for others. I want to be clear I am not blaming anyone at this location. I understand there are processes in place that everyone is instructed to follow. Aside from that, it doesnt make sense to me if companies have cameras and footage of crimes and dont care to share, but still expect us to support them financially as customers. Why cant camera footage of public locations be available for people to view and retrieve? At some point, someone needs to care to make our neighborhoods and cities safer. Update 1: every other business I have contacted has been more compassionate and supportive in providing advice and explaining steps to get help with security footage. Update 2: I drove back to the location to the same location and saw that Public Storage has two cameras facing the direction of where my car was broken into. Safety around a storage facility should matter in addition to safety of the facility. If you care about keeping your car safe do not park by this Public Storage. And I would also question safety of items in your storage unit as well. Additionally, I was previously a Public Storage customer for an entire year in another state where I did have a good experience. This location had a chance to make a greater positive impression, but instead removed all loyalty and trust I had for this company.
