12-05-2023My washer and dryer were stolen out of my storage unit upon return from deployment. My storage unit was marked vacated and my account was terminated, denying me access to the property gates and storage unit without my knowing or consent. I reported this to the Property Manager [Linda] and District Manager [Bill]. They immediately instructed me to file an insurance claim before offering or attempting to review camera footage. After several phone calls regarding this matter, the District Manager and Property Manager allegedly reviewed the footage and both claimed the camera footage was not sufficient enough, nor able to reveal any evidence of my appliances being stolen. I had filed a Police Report , and a Richland County Sheriffs Department Officer came to the property and asked to review and obtain the footage in regards to the previous reported burglary crime . The Property Manager [Linda] refused to comply with the Officer and denied him access to any of the security footage. The insurance company associated with Public Storage will not contact you back regarding your claim, regardless of submitting all necessary proof and documentation of stolen property;(look up BBB reviews of Orange Door Storage Insurance), as you will find a plethora of negative reviews about claims being left unsolved, denied, or unpaid. As this fiasco has now grown into a legal lawsuit, I stress and advise to please do your research on BBB before making a decision to utilize this storage company, along with its required insurance company partner.
