09-03-2026The business model of our ExtraSpace storage is to advertise a reasonable cost and in the contract add a line that they may increase rates from time to time to keep up with area prices. What they dont tell you is that they have an actual business model where they automatically will double your rent at the six month mark. If you dont catch it, it goes on your auto pay until you notice. My indoor unit went from $89 to 164 overnight. The next step is to complain when you do it gets elevated to the manager who automatically offers you something between 89 and 164. If you dont accept 140 or whatever you go back-and-forth throwing a fit until you get it back to the original prize temporarily. Then the whole thing starts again. My price was approved to stay at 89 last month and its back to 164 this month. Obviously, they know that moving out as difficult so I think they are just counting on getting you in on a good price and hoping move out is too difficult I had a camper parked at the same location and the exact same thing happened. Fortunately, I sold my camper the same month that the price was doubled. I have called and talked to employees and managers about this price hike scheme. In fact, I just called again two minutes ago. I have turned off auto pay so they cant just take whatever without talking to me first.
