If you have ever thought about venturing off the beaten path of beaches or mountain vacations, here are a few reasons why Austin, TX should be the next destination on your list.

A Place to Learn

Not all vacations should be educationally based, but sometimes, when you have school age children, it is a great idea to take them to places that offer a visual education experience. A Shopper’s Dream

Vacationing provides an opportunity to explore a new city and see what it is all about and visitors to Austin know that it is the place to shop until your heart is truly content. It is true that Austin is full of amazing thrift stores and souvenir shops, but it is also a place to enjoy a little upscale shopping as well. Specifically, The Domain, is an upscale retail mecca. Shops such as Neiman Marcus, Madewell, and the Apple Store sit alongside over 100 other retail shops in this sprawling shopping paradise. Make sure to start early in the morning as shopping here can easily take all day or even a full weekend.

Bring Your Own Fork

You really do not have to bring your own fork. The restaurants will provide that for you, but you will want to prepare your stomach for an onslaught of amazing food choices. Austin has virtually every cultural food represented, so no matter what you are craving, you will certainly find it here. However, what you will encounter upon entering this city is the sweet, savory, and smokey aroma of Bar B Que heaven. Bar B Que is imbedded into every aspect of Austin and you will find a place selling this Texas delicacy on every street corner, so follow your nose to your favorite spot. Franklin Bar B Que and Salt Lick Bar B Que are a few of the more famous places to get an excellent slab of ribs or enjoy classic, Texas style Brisket.

Austin is a city made for tourists. Upon entering the city limits, you will immediately feel as though you already belong. From epic Texas hospitality to food to tickle your culinary senses, you can find it all in Austin, TX. Although you may be drawn to destinations that include an ocean, consider Austin for your next vacation. It may not have a beach, exactly, but it does have an amazing river and plenty of space to spread out and enjoy a weekend, entire week, or longer in this remarkable city.
