Interior Inspiration: Reorganize Your Space to Reflect Your Personality

Preview

When it comes to interior design, most people usually focus on choosing the right furniture or painting the walls in the right color. Even though these things surely are an important aspect of one’s home, there are other things that can transform your space and make it look chic. First, interior design should aim to reflect your personality including your aesthetic preferences. But, before you start choosing the curtains and wall art, you should make sure that your home is well-organized so you’ll be able to focus on decor without having to deal with the mess. Therefore, here are some helpful tips that will help you reorganize your home and make it neat and pretty:

First stop to organized home: Decluttering

If you’re planning to clean your home, then decluttering should definitely be on the top of your to-do list. Yet, prior to throwing everything out, you should actually take some time and carefully examine everything you own so you won’t end up discarding something truly valuable, such as important documents or old family heirlooms. Besides, you might find something you’ve forgotten about, so whenever you plan to declutter, be sure to do it carefully and diligently. But, it’s crucial to point out that being too sentimental won’t get you far, so be sure to throw out things that you haven’t used in a very long time.

Use everything you’ve got

We often have a lot of things that simply collect dust, even though they could be used for something. For example, if you have a basket on a shelf that you use for nothing, maybe it would be better to actually move it to your bathroom and keep all your cosmetic toiletries there. That way, your bathroom will look more organized and you’ll also have more space on your shelf for books and other, more important, items. Additionally, feel free to collect other unutilized items that you have, and try to find a way to use them in a creative and constructive way. Chances are, you start doing that, your home will look more interesting and wholesome.

Make space for little things and cozy vibes

Sometimes, the interior inspiration doesn’t have to come from lavish decor items, but from small things that make the home come to life. Of course, if you feel like purchasing something new, feel free to do so, but always focus on buying things that reflect your personality, rather than blindly following interior design trends. So, if you prefer cozy vibes, then you can enrich your living room with a tribal rug from Miss Amara, as they’re easy to match with multiple interior design styles. Also, making space for little things, such as tiny potted cacti or your favorite poster, can add a friendly atmosphere to your space. Using interesting decor pieces will surely enrich your place and make it seem more accessible, which is a great thing whenever you need to come home after a long and tiring day at work. It’s always better when you open your front door and see a pleasant space that is comfortable than a cold room without any warm and comforting elements.

Feel free to get some help from the outside

Sometimes we have so many things, accumulated throughout the years that throwing them all out seems like an impossible task, and some of them might be too precious to be donated. In that case, it wouldn’t be bad to reserve a storage unit where you’d be able to safely keep all your belongings, especially if they’re too big to be kept at home. For example, summer-related items such as camping equipment, bicycles, and garden chairs can all be kept there during the winter, while in the summer, you can store your coats, boots, and heaters. That way your home will be free of the clutter since you’ll have enough space without being bothered by things that you don’t need.

Reuse empty bowls and boxes

The day-to-day life is often full of tiny things that also have to tendency to get lost, such as car keys, nose drops and such. Hence, in case you want to keep them organized and in place, then it’s best to use empty bowls and boxes. So, keeping a stylish bowl next to your front door can make sure that your home/car keys are always in one place, while pretty boxes can keep your home tidy and clean. Using a box to keep your medications, makeup or anything else will surely transform your home, and in order to be even more efficient, you can use labels so you’ll always know what’s inside. Aside from bowls, you can also use paper trays and folders to keep your documents in order, which can be especially useful if you have a home office that you use every day.

Don`t forget to clean on a regular basis

Keeping your home tidy and clean is the sure step to avoid mess and unnecessary clutter. Now, you don’t need to go full OCD, but reorganizing your wardrobe during different seasons, and occasionally throwing out everything you don’t need will give you more space to decorate your home and dedicate yourself to things that really matter. Having a home full of junk you don’t need can only make you feel more anxious, and if you have issues with throwing them out, you can always ask for professional help, or read a book by Marie Kondo, a Japanese lifestyle consultant who’s helped many people reorganize their homes.

Interior design matters, but so does being organized and tidy. Now, that doesn’t mean that you should aim for perfection, but instead of accumulating things, try to keep them sorted, so they won’t make you feel anxious or overwhelmed. If you keep a lot of things lying around or stuffed in the closet, your personality won’t be able to shine through, and the best way to keep your place stylish and cozy is to let your personality be reflected in every aspect of your home.
