Get Ahead Scholarship Winner - Lexi Rendon

Each year we are amazed at the caliper of applications to our EZstorit Get Ahead Scholarship and even more so when choosing the recipient from these outstanding students. After much deliberation, we are proud to announce the recipient of the 2020 EZstorit Get Ahead Scholarship – Lexi Rendon, a freshman at Florida International University.

Lexi Rendon, although currently a freshman at Florida International University is planning to transfer to Florida State University for the 2021 spring semester where she plans to major in chemical engineering. Lexi likes to challenge herself academically and took several college level classes in high school.

Lexi plans on being just as active in extra circular activities in college as she was in high school. In high school, Lexi was involved in athletics (swimming and water polo), several national honor societies (National Honor Society, Rho Kappa, Mu Alpha Theta, Science National Honor Society), varies science clubs (STEM Coastal Explorers and STEAM Club), sitting on student government councils (Rho Kappa and STEAM Club) and participating in choir all while maintaining a GPA of 4.89. “I look forward to participating in collegiate activities once at Florida State University” states Lexi.

When not busy with school, Lexi likes to study French and relate things to the things learned in her psychology classes. “My psychology classes were very interesting and I learned how to evaluate research, which I plan to use that knowledge and be a part of the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) at FSU” she says. Lexi believes that the research experience she gained will help her to contribute to science, whether it be replicating another researcher's work to double check their findings, inventing something, or coming up with a scientific breakthrough. She is so excited to see all the exciting things her academic career has in store for her.
