Public Storage in Gulf Shores has always been great. This is my 2nd unit that I have rented over the years and its a pleasure to be back. Rita is fabulous to work with and so glad she is still at this location. Scott was very helpful with my rental and if look forward to meeting him. The place is always very clean and never had a problem with codes and access to the property. 10 Stars If I could.
They keep going up on the price every six months its crazy. They dont care they just continue to raise prices . The ac in there is not turned down low enough, it was 85 in there the other day while I was in my storage unit . The buggies always have the wheels peeling . For the price increases they dont fix things . And keep the ac too high .
I'm writing an updated review because I left one a few days ago, and I've since learned something that I think other customers should know: This is my last review : One of my biggest concerns is the constant price increases. When I first rented my unit, my monthly rate was around $145. In September 2025, it increased to $180. They later attempted to raise it again, but after I called, corporate agreed to temporarily reduce my rate for about three months. Then, in June 2026, it went up again to $223. It feels like the rates increase every few months, making it difficult to budget for long-term storage. Another issue is the temperature inside the facility. During the summer, it gets extremely hot because the air conditioning is kept so warm. If you're paying for climate-controlled storage, you expect it to actually feel climate controlled. Also, many of the carts have wheels that are peeling apart or falling off, making them difficult to use. After my first review, someone from corporate called me. During that conversation, they offered to lower my rate for three months if I would change my Google review to five stars. I declined because I didn't feel it addressed the underlying issues. A temporary discount doesn't solve the repeated price increases or the other ongoing concerns. What really prompted me to update my review, though, is what I learned about how negative reviews affect the employees. From what I understand, when customers leave poor reviews about issues that are outside the staff's control, the employees can lose bonuses or be financially penalized. If that's true, I think it's incredibly unfair. The employees at this location have always been friendly, helpful, professional, and have kept the property clean. My frustrations are not with themthey're with the policies and decisions made by corporate. As a small business owner myself, I would never take away an employee's bonus because of decisions that I made or policies that I controlled. Corporate should take responsibility for the issues that are actually within its control, such as frequent price increases, maintaining a comfortable temperature inside the facility, and replacing worn-out equipment. The employees shouldn't have to bear the consequences of decisions they didn't make. I sincerely hope the employees don't get in trouble because of this review. They have always treated me with kindness and respect, and they deserve recognition for the work they donot punishment for problems they didn't create. My review is about corporate's policies, not the people working at this location every day.
