I have been keeping my extra stuff at ExtraSpace for years now and they have been extremely easy to work with. in particular Caitlin in the front office has made my interaction with them so easy and so positive I am beyond grateful to have her there. She is an absolute asset to her company and deserve high marks for being such a proactive employee. I am grateful to have her and extra space so close by and I feel like my extra possessions that I keep in storage are in safe hands.
Extra Space Storage Company is my second time renting a unit due to my previous rental with them in Orange County, CA about 2-3 years ago, but the facility was brand new with one large building with 2 floors, and access was easier. The Auburn facility/rental buildings and units arent as new as the ones in Orange County, in which some water damage in the storage building(s) is noticeable. I love that the facility has personalized security gate access code for each patron, with roll-up doors for each unit. Though the storage building isnt as new as in Orange County, with some water stains in the storage building, I was assured by management that all issues related to repairs were being made. The reason for my low rating is the amount of rate increases after obtaining my unit which went from $112.60 on January 2024, and jumped to $186.60 December 2025. When I questioned the increase amount, I was informed Auburn has a high usage rate for storage units, therefore, justified their increase, in which drove me to move out recently, December 18, 2025. Good Luck dealing with this facility, personnel, and the corporation.
I rented a 10x5 unit from 2024-2025 for $112.60, increased to $129.20, then increased to $186.60 on 12/18/2025, in which I closed my account due to the higher rate increase, especially since they offered the same square footage on 12/18/2025 for $127 in store, and $71 online. Although they initiated an increase a few months earlier to $186, they reduced it after my complaint. Oh well, they re-increased it again to $186.60 for my December 2025 rent amount, so after my conversation with Auburns customer service, I was informed this area has a high demand for storage units, and would need to pay the increase or move out, so I moved out Tuesday, December 2025. The place is clean as well as the units but one unit had some water damage on the ceiling in my storage building. Whats so bad, I had used Extra Space in Orange County, and they only raised their rate once over 4 years, but was later informed by corporate that each facility runs their business and rates according to the areas demand. I would not recommend this place. Good luck if you do. December 19, 2025, I was contacted by Extra Space to discuss my issues, in which their contact information they left was invalid, and the automated system kept disconnecting once my number was entered, so I was unable to reach anyone. More lies and deceits.

If u could give zero stars I would. This place is terrible. The staff are nails . Very discrimination. They locked me out of my storage even tho I paid. They're unofficial texting from different numbers and at all hours And don't believe the big bummer that says "first month free" that is a lie and according to the manager and other tenants there is a big problem with storage units being broken into. Was told by manager someone even put theyre stuff in someone else's storage. How does anyone have the time to rob a storage and load theyre stuff into it without anyone knowing? Let alone howd they get in there?? Craziness I highly suggest not using this place or Locksley go to US storage on rock creek. Much more legit and legal at least And secure and promp
