09-14-2026I've been a customer at this Extra Space Storage location in Menlo Park for almost two years, and while the facility itself is fine, the pricing practices are not something I can recommend to anyone considering renting here. Like many storage companies, they lure you in with a low promotional rate for the first month ($50.86 for me). I have a 5x10 space. But once the standard rate kicked in, the increases came fast and often: Started at $82.20/month (Dec 2024) Jumped to $150.20/month after just 3 months (+83%) Rose again to $192.20/month (+28%) Now at $236.20/month (+23%) That's a 187% increase in under 24 months from my actual starting rate, nearly tripling what I signed up for, with no comparable improvement in service. If you're considering renting here, know that the promotional rate is a teaser, and the "real" rate will climb steeply and often. Read the rate-increase terms in your contract carefully before committing. I'm moving out because of these constant price increases. It's just not sustainable to stay somewhere that hikes rates this aggressively every few months.
