My first time ever renting at a storage facility and likely my last. My storage unit was broken into and the Manager Marcus did very little to assist. Quite the contrary he was very defensive and almost nervous delivering the news that he noticed my unit had no lock on it. I knew immediately that was not true because I triple checked every time I would access my unit. When I asked to look at cameras to see what happened, he was unwilling saying an investigation had to be done. He is a manager and he has access and he could easily have seen what happened. But again totally unwilling to assist. I wonder why?We asked him where are the cameras in the hallways and He said the cameras were hidden, which was absolutely not true. You can see them in plain sight. Why lie about something so obvious? I decided to hire movers a few weeks later to empty out our 2 storage units a few weeks later. During the move the movers found my original lock completely cut it was thrown behind our grandfather clock. I went to the manager that was on duty that day to explain to her what happened. She immediately filed an incident report also mentioning to me that when I was first made aware that my lock was missing, Marcus should have filed an incident report for insurance purposes, in case, we later discovered that things were missing from our unit.He never even suggested it. I asked the manager that day if their cameras are hidden she said they are absolutely not & proceeded to take me through the hallways to show me. She told me once I file the police report I need to come back and give them the case number so they can add it to the incident report. I proceeded to file a police report that day. A few days later once I got the case number. While I was waiting for the officer I went in the office provided Marcus with the case number to add onto the incident report and Then proceeded to show Marcus the missing lock that was cut. He was very disinterested. I asked him what was the protocol now that I gave him the case number and he acted like he had no clue as to what the protocol is. Mind you he is a manager and he should know exactly what these protocols are. Again why the unwillingness to assist? The officer came out and was able to look at the cameras unfortunately because the cameras only pointed towards the doors entrance and not the actual storage unit. The police said afterwards its very clear that somebody illegally entered my unit cutting my lock off. In a private conversation, he admitted that it was quite strange the Managers unwillingness to assist me and his defensive nature. He proceeded to file the report for burglary on my unit. I would steer clear of this location, but especially in dealing with this particular manager. I have no idea as to his indifference. As a brand new customer, my job would be to ensure customer satisfaction. This was far from my experience. To make matters worse they didnt even bother pro rating the cost of the storage unit. I moved out on June 6th And was stuck paying for the rest of the month For an empty unit that was burglarized. The district manager was notified. Ive never received any communication from her, which lets me know they are also not interested in customer satisfaction, even with a police report for burglary and proof that my lock was in fact cut and my storage unit was rummaged through.
