Public Storage operates in a predatory and opaque manner. Communication is nonexistent, fees appear without explanation, access is restricted arbitrarily, and pressure tactics are used to force payment while customers are deliberately kept in the dark. This location appears designed to manufacture default, stack charges, and accelerate units toward auction. The conduct of the on-site managers, Katie Mae and Manny, materially contributed to this outcome. Information provided to us was inconsistent, misleading, and often false, and actions affecting our account were taken without transparency, notice, or written confirmation. Katie Maes behavior escalated into what felt like stalking and intimidation. She repeatedly called us, including as recently as this evening, to state that she would not provide access codes over the phone or in writing, that access had to be handled only in person, and that we were not permitted to send anyone to access our unit without her personal authorization because she needs to keep tabs on who is on her property. This conduct was controlling, inappropriate, and indicative of a disturbing power trip, not legitimate policy enforcement. Earlier, she approached us unsolicited to claim that another company, CubeSmart, was taking over and that storage units could be emptied at their discretion. This statement caused confusion and distress and was later contradicted. That interaction was merely the first in a series of hostile and destabilizing encounters. We are a military family, and the unit contained important and irreplaceable personal and military memorabilia. Despite ongoing efforts to resolve the account, the unit was ultimately sold for $50. This was not a customer service failureit was exploitation. This review is part of documenting a pattern of conduct, not an isolated incident.
